We are experiencing exactly the same issue. The ($Sent)View design element causes the error and it was also an upgrade from 7.0x to 8.01. We noticed the Design properties showing 1997 as the create year for the note which seemed odd so we did the delete and replace from mail8.ntf, again with same results. I have so far rolled out to 3 users but held back on more until I have resolved the error. the 3 users so far all had mail file upgrades so I will test on a new user with a fresh mail8 mailfile so it if it makes a difference.
