Create PDF documents on the fly ?? for Free!

February 8, 2007 – 9:32 am

Portable Document Format (PDF) is the de facto standard for the secure and reliable distribution and exchange of electronic documents and forms around the world. CutePDF Writer (formerly CutePDF Printer) is the free version of commercial PDF creation software. CutePDF Writer installs itself as a “printer subsystem”.
This enables virtually any Windows applications (must be able to print) to create professional quality PDF documents – with just a push of a button! CutePDF Writer is Vista-ready!

  2. Personally, I prefer FreePDF by Stefan Heinz, which has been doing the same job for me since a very long time (http://shbox.de). However, CutePDF Writer Companion seems to add a few features not available with FreePDF.
Also, make sure to have a look at the PDF export features found in OpenOffice 2.1. I found this to be especially amazing: Open some semantically correct HTML document (recommended test-drive: any W3C spec) in Writer, export to PDF, open in Adobe Reader and be amazed. 🙂
